The beginning
Megan Moffatt, Grade 7, St. Paul
In the beginning … a planet
no trees,
no greenery
no life, and so he said, “let there be brightness,” and
no it was done. There was night and day.
On the second day,
only light,
and so he said, “let there be land and sea for
my creations to live on” and so it was done.
On the third day,
only light, but land as well as sea,
and so he said, “let there be animals, miniature and colossal,
fierce and kind” and so it was done.
On the fourth day,
there was light, land, sea and animals
and so he said, “let there be humans of all
race and colour” and it was done.
On the fifth day,
there was light, land and sea, animals and humans
and so he said, “let there be plants to bear
fruit to nourish my universe” and so it was done.
On the sixth day,
there was light, land, sea and life,
and so he said, “let there be rain to fill my oceans and to help my creations live and
grow” and so it was done.
On the seventh day,
there was light, land, sea, animals, humans and plants,
and so he said, “let there be roads, utilities and vehicles
for my people to use” and it was done.
On the eight day,
the world was complete.
And he then said, “let my people treat and care
for my earth well and take care of the world around them, the world I have created for them.”
